Your designer reviews the information available first. Where existing plans are old, incomplete or clearly inaccurate, or where the proposal depends on tight dimensions, a measured survey provides a reliable basis for the drawings.

Important things to be aware of

A measured survey is not a structural survey, a valuation or a home buyer's report.
Concealed structure cannot be recorded without opening up, so some assumptions remain until construction.
Access to all relevant areas is needed on the day for the record to be complete.
